The MFS aims to reduce the number of fires occurring in the home. One way to achieve this is by providing home fire safety information to all members of our community. Unfortunately, some people experience barriers to this information while still developing their English language skills.

The MFS recognises this barrier and has taken steps to assist and educate these community members.

We have fire safety brochures translated into a wide range of languages.

We have specially trained firefighters who deliver free home fire and life safety presentations suitable for multicultural groups. These presentations explain in simple English how to reduce the risk of fire in their home and what to do in a fire emergency. The MFS can provide interpreters free of charge to these presentations if required.

Additionally, most of the information on the MFS website can be instantly translated by using the Google Translate button and selecting your language.

The MFS continues to work with a range of multicultural organisations to identify community needs, develop resources and ensure ongoing education about fire safety.

Interpreters are provided free of charge on request.
