Juvenile Fire Lighters Intervention Program - J-FLIP

The South Australian Metropolitan Fire Service (MFS) developed the Juvenile Fire Lighters Intervention Program (J-FLIP) to help families overcome the problem of children's unsafe fire lighting and experimentation.

The aim of the program is to reduce the number of deaths, injuries and the millions of dollars of property damage caused by juvenile fire setting.

Specially trained firefighters work with children and parents in the program. There is no charge for the J-FLIP and confidentiality is assured.

If you are interested in any further information please contact the J-FLIP Coordinator by telephone on 8204 3611. (Country callers 1300 737 637).

MFS Story Time with MFS Firefighter Phil

Listen to MFS Firefighter, Phil read this story for young children 5 years old and over.

The book, ‘Aaron’s Promise’, is for young children who may be curious about fire and parents who would like to discuss the dangers of playing with lighters and matches with their children.

Beautifully written and illustrated, it is a great educational resource for parents to teach their children about fire safety with matches and lighters. We hope you enjoy – and share with teachers and caregivers of 5+ children.
